John & Pam Smylie - In Celebration of 40 Years of Marriage
Revered for their impeccable harmonies, a parade of hits, fine-tuned choreography, and often referred to as “American Music Royalty,” world-renowned superstars The Temptations are hitting the road on the heels of their milestone 60th Anniversary year. Beloved as one of Motown’s most elastic acts, they’ve tackled lush pop and politically charged funk with inimitable flair, and through the decades have weathered a stream of changes in personnel and the music industry with dignity and grace. Founded in Detroit some 60 years ago, The Temptations set in motion a journey that saw them become one of the first African American musical acts to crossover into mainstream America, as they achieved unparalleled success during one of the most turbulent periods in American history. It is undeniable that the Temptations have had a profound impact on mainstream culture, making significant contributions to American culture, African American communities, as well as the global music landscape.
Throughout their 60 year career, The Temptations have released 43 full-length studio albums - 19 of which have been certified either Gold or Platinum and 16 of which rose to #1 on the R&B charts - they have earned 15 Top Ten hits, including blockbuster #1 Hits “Just My Imagination” certified Platinum “Papa Was A Rollin Stone” and Certified Platinum “My Girl” which was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2018. The group has also received numerous accolades which include, 4 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award, the NAACP Image Hall of Fame Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a star on the Apollo Theater’s Walk of Fame. With the January 2022 release of their latest album Temptations 60, The Temptations continue bringing joy to audiences of all ages as founding member Dr. Otis Williams continues to lead the group and carry the torch for the next generation of Temptations’ fans.
