Join members of the Blue Canvas Orchestra in a special Valentine’s show at The Backstage! Led by long-time Blue Canvas Orchestra performer Tom Mitchell, this special Valentine's performance will feature Ed Willett, Danielle Diamond, and Nate Bean as they come together to bring you a Valentine-shaped box full of Love Songs. Familiar, not so familiar, original, masterfully written by others, in a small personal setting, with as little separation between audience and musicians as befits a night all about everyone’s favorite subject: Love!


Guest Chef Christopher Basina created a special Valentine menu of lite fare and plates to share. Originally from Bayfield, Christopher graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute before earning an internship at Maxim’s in Paris, France. For nearly 25 years, he’s been honing his skills at some of the best restaurants in the northern Midwest— The Depot, The Bell Street, The Beach Club, Good Thyme, The Tavern of Northfield, The Ole Store, Axel’s Fine Dining, and most recently, Maggie’s. Now Chef Christopher is focusing on opening his catering business back home in the Northwoods, The Hog & Herring. There will be plenty to love. View the menu HERE.

At the bar we’ll have beer, wine, cocktails, and specialty drinks, including our signature Blue Canvas Classic— created for us by extraordinary mixmaster, David Sneed of the 211 Martini Bar, who will once again be working his magic for you at The Backstage bar, mixing fine craft cocktails the way no one else can.

This special performance will be hosted at The Backstage, Big Top's new intimate listening space located at the junction of Highways 13 and J at the gateway to Bayfield. Food and beverages available starting at 5:30pm.

The Backstage

Big Top's new year-round performance space is located at the Big Top Box Office & Giftshop at the junction of Hwy 13 and County Hwy J at the gateway to Bayfield. During a unique night out at The Backstage you can enjoy live entertainment, drinks, specialty cocktails, and a unique menu of shareable plates. The bar will serve beer, wine, cocktails, and specialty drinks, including our new signature Blue Canvas Classic— created just for us by David Sneed of the 211 Martini Bar. Food reservation times appreciated, limited space available.

Ticketing Policies & Fees

*Plus applicable taxes and fees

• 5.5% State and local sales tax
• $3 Facility Fee per ticket (facility fee is used for tent, building, and grounds needs)
• 2% Handling Fee per order, up to a maximum of $8
• No refunds or exchanges for any shows

Ticket holders and attendees are subject the following conditions:

• Attendees grant unrestricted rights & licenses for use of their likeness in any form of public broadcast and production, and for promotional purposes
• Big Top Chautauqua reserves the right to refuse admission or evict anyone from the venue premises due to disorderly behavior without issuing a refund.
• Big Top Chautauqua reserves the right to search all persons, packages, bags, and other items entering venue grounds and/or other properties owned by Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua. The safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and artists are top priority.
