The Big Top was built by and for songwriters. It's a place where they can create and share with us their finest moments and their worst, their greatest ecstasy, and most confounding times. Their creations might help us to untangle a complex world or even remember what's best about our own lives. But where do these songs come from, and how did the writer get from that mire seed of an idea to something that touches our deepest emotions? How indeed, these are some of the questions that will be explored in word and song at our very first Backstage Songwriters Circle.

Join BCO writers, Scott Kirby, Michael Laughing Fox Charette, Rowan Nelson-Ferris and Musical Director Ed Willett for a night celebrating the art of the song and the music creating muse that has brought so much to us all. These fine writers will take turns throughout the concert sharing their songs, inspirations, and stories in a lighthearted night full of comradery and fresh collaboration. Join us for your backstage pass to the scenes behind the scenes of these four creative minds.



The Backstage

Big Top's new year-round performance space is located at the Big Top Box Office & Giftshop at the juction of Hwy 13 and County Hwy J at the gateway to Bayfield. During a unique night out at The Backstage you can enjoy live entertainment, drinks, speciality cocktails, and a unique menu of shareable plates. Ticket Fees

*Plus applicable taxes and fees

  • 5.5% State and local sales tax
  • $5 Facility Fee per ticket (facility fee is used for tent, building, and grounds needs)
  • 3.5% Credit Card Handling Fee per order.
  • ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. No refunds or exchanges will be given.

  • Big Top Chautauqua reserves the right to search all persons, packages, bags, and other items entering venue grounds and/or other properties owned by Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua. The safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and artists are top priority.
